Reflective vs Absorptive Glazings
  • Some cars are factory-fitted with absorptive glazings for solar control, which is actually glass doped with ferrous oxide (FeO). E.g. tinted or privacy glass
  • After the photon is absorbed, there is a 50% probablity of it re-emitting into the vehicle
  • Limited effectiveness as much of the radiation still transmitted into vehicle through re-radiation and convection
  • Reflective glazings such as V-KOOL's provide greater climate control
